NATURE ATTRACTION – The Biltmore Estate is destined to bring you the best in all types of new rose varieties from international breeders worldwide. Roberta’s has joined forces with The Biltmore to bring you this superior ‘Falling in Love’ Hybrid Tea Rose.
KEY TIPS – Hybrid Tea roses should be groomed after each flush of flowers has finished. Simply cut away stem to at least two to three sets of leaves below spent flower(s). This encourages vigorous new growth from which more blooms occur. Roses prefer deep watering rather than sporadic shallow watering.
SHELF LIFE – Plant immediately being careful of thorns by using gloves. Never allow roots to dry out at any time prior to planting.
PREPARATION - Carefully discard any unattached pieces of old leaves or stems using pruning shears.
DETERMINING THE BOTTOM OR TOP OF ROSE – These have roots radiating from a central point called the crown. Plant the rose with the roots facing downward and the stems upwards.
GARDEN PREPARATION – Pick a full sun or partial sun location where plant can be spaced at least 2 to 3 feet away form other plants. Dig a hole two times the width of root ball and deep enough to accommodate all roots plus 3 to 4 inches more. You may prune roots where needed to help them fit into hole.
POTTED PLANTS – These can be potted in large containers though prefer the garden. Pots must be large enough to accommodate the roots. Be careful not to let soil dry out in hot summer sun. Drain holes are necessary.
SOIL – If your soil is clayish amend it with a standard garden soil for adequate drainage.
PLANTING DEPTH AND SPACING– Dig a hole two times the width of root ball and deep enough to accommodate all roots plus 3 to 4 inches more. You may prune roots where needed to help them fit into hole. The crown, where the stem meets the roots, will be just below the surface. Space them at least 2-3 feet apart from other plants.
SPROUTING TIME - Sprouts quickly after a couple weeks.  If the ground is still cool it takes a little longer.
WATER - Water thoroughly upon planting. Once they sprout, continue watering deeply at least once a week all summer long. This is vital to insure a long, sustainable blooming.
FERTILIZER – This helps maintain flower volume and new growth from year to year. Foliar feeding is especially valuable and effective. For best results, use well balanced fertilizer like Roberta’s Flower Magic Plant Food (M7503) twice a month in spring and summer.
LIGHTING -Full sun is preferred though half day is sufficient.
BLOOMING – These plants will bloom early summer through fall every year. The first season blooming will start a little later.
TEMPERATURE ZONE 5 to 9 – In the garden these can withstand minus 10 F. In containers they are hardy down to about 0 F.
WINTER DORMANCY – After the first heavy frost, plants will lose their leaves. Though not necessary, it is often well worth applying 5 to 6 inches of mulch around root zone at this time.
SUMMER GROOMING – Shrub or landscape roses require no summer grooming. Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, and Grandiflora roses should be groomed after each flush of flowers has finished. Simply cut away stem to at least two to three sets of leaves below spent flower(s). This encourages vigorous new growth from which more blooms occur.
SEASONAL PRUNING – Winter or spring pruning is recommended for all roses. Remove dead portions of stems by cutting into healthy wood below the dead area. It is recommended to also prune all healthy wood as well. Prune about one half of healthy growth away to encourage vigorous new spring growth.
