NATURE ATTRACTION- Eye Popping! You won’t believe the flower
power of these rough and ready plants. They are durable, disease-resistant,
drought-tolerant, heat and humidity loving, and untroubled by pests
or deer. They are great for garden borders and making fresh cut or dried
everlasting flowers.
KEY TIPS – Remove spent flowers to maintain a neater appearance and
extend flowering time. They do well in hot, dry spots once established.
They bloom for many months late into the autumn every year.
SHELF LIFE – Plant in garden immediately after the night temperatures
stay above 35 degrees.
PLANT PREPARATION- Cut away any yellow or brown leaves or broken
stems that may have occurred. This grooming is completely normal and
will take place as the plant grows.
POTTED PLANTS – Rather than the garden you may re-pot into large
containers. Repot the plants into at least 15 inch pots separately or
together inside one larger container.
SOIL PREPARATION – If your soil is clayish amend it with a standard
garden soil for adequate drainage.
GARDEN PREPARATION – Pick a sunny location that can be easily
viewed for the flower’s beauty. Borders, perimeters, and walkways are a
great location. If your soil is clayish amend it with a standard garden soil
for adequate moisture retentiveness.
PLANTING DEPTH and SPACING - Plant separately spacing about 20-
30 inches. Dig holes twice the width of the root ball and about 5-6 inches
deep. Place them in their holes. Cover with an inch or two of soil and
pack soil firmly around root.
PLANT HEIGHT – They will grow about 24-30 inches tall.
SPROUTING TIME - Sprouts in May after a couple weeks. In the
ground it takes a little longer if the temperatures are still cool.
WATER - Water thoroughly upon planting and once or twice a week
thereafter. They do well in hot, dry spots once established.
FERTILIZER – This helps maintain flower size and count from year to
year. For best results, use Roberta’s Flower Magic Plant Food (M7503)
twice a month all summer long.
LIGHTING -Full to partial sun is preferred.
BLOOMING – These plants will bloom mid summer through autumn
yearly.
TEMPERATURE ZONE 3 to 9- These are hardy down to a minus 40
degrees below 0.
WINTER DORMANCY – After the first heavy frost, cut all shoots back
to about 4 inches above the soil. Plants rest from November - May.
PROPAGATING- These plants will re-bloom and spread every year. They
can be subdivided in early spring or autumn after 2-3 years.
CUT FLOWERS – These make wonderful flowers for your cut flower
garden. They also make superb dried flowers as well!
STAKING – The flower stems usually need no staking if planted in full
sun. If planted in _ day sun they may need minor support due to the thick
and heavy flowers.
