Step 1 – Discard any small unattached pieces
that may have occurred. Plant the bulbs into separate 6 inch pots or
combine more into larger pots. Pots must have drainage holes. If
planting into the garden itself, wait until temperatures stay above 45
degrees spacing them at least two feet apart.
Step 2 – Cover the top with an inch of good
soil and pack firmly around sides.
Step 3 - Water them thoroughly. Water them once a
week once until they sprout. Thereafter a couple times a week is best.
Step 4 – In pots, you should place the plants
outside and leave them there as soon as evening temperatures stay above
45 degrees. Partial sun is best. In the garden, the starts will sprout
when the soil temperature rises sufficiently usually around late June.
Step 5 - Planted now each clump will produce
impressive pinkish mauve pine cone-like flowers. Sometimes the plants
do not bloom the first season. This happens when cool temperatures
persist once planted.
